Matterdale Bootcamp

Stay fit and stay safe

IMG_3970.JPG

The first bootcamp took place on a slightly overcast December afternoon in the garden of The Royal in Dockray. Seven intrepid locals of a range of ages and fitness gathered with anticipation and apprehension of what was in store for them. Ably led by fitness instructor *Debbie Jackman from Penruddock, they were taken through their paces; stretches, warm up, then a series of 45 second interval training exercises interspersed with much needed rest periods, and finally more stretches and a cool down. All socially distanced, of course. We didn’t get too muddy as we only did a small number of exercises on the ground, and although the day was chilly we soon warmed up. It got the heart rate going, and the muscles working, and there was lots of laughter as well as a bit of sweat.

It is great fun, only lasts an hour, and I only ached for a couple of days afterwards!

The next one will be held on Wednesday 16 December 2.30-3.30 in the garden of the Royal, followed by a break for Christmas and New Year, and the weekly sessions will start up again on 6 January. The cost is £5 per session. If you want to work off those lock down and Christmas pounds, get fit in the safety of the outdoors, and have fun, do come along. You can just turn up or email Helen Reed ( hlreedsw20@gmail.com ) to book your place. Maybe one day the sun will shine again and we will look as good as the group in the photo!
