Matterdale Dog Day

The third Matterdale Dog Day took place on the lawn in front of the Royal Hotel on Sunday, 15 July. About 15 dogs competed in an imaginative range of competitions - catching the most treats, looking most like their owner, having the shiniest nose - you get the idea. The Reverend Mike Houston had the unenviable task of judging the competitors, and succeeded in ensuring that everyone was a winner.Thanks are also due to Mary Watson for judging the Summer Bake Off, which was deservedly won by Ali O’Neill for her outstanding Summer Cheese Cake - and Mary had no idea who had made it!
