Gina Farncombe leads her disciples
to beautiful wreath making

On the afternoon of Sunday 8th December a group of the good ladies of Matterdale gathered in Gina’s Studio in Dockray for a festive afternoon of Christmas Wreath making.
We started by emptying heaps of fresh Christmas greenery sourced from gardens and hedgerows, choysia, evergreens, conifers, holly, hawthorn and lichens onto the floor. Gina then gave us all a basic tutorial and off we went. Chatting as we wound and generally encouraging and inspiring each other in our artistic ideas, it wasn’t long before some truly stunning creations emerged. In addition to the wreaths we also made beautiful table decorations out of potatoes!
It turned out to be a most enjoyable way to spend a very wet and windy Sunday afternoon feeling cosy and warm, making new friends, sipping Mulled Wine and eating the most delicious Mince Pies and Chocolate Brownies. Huge thank you to Gina Farncombe for the event which also raised money for Cruse Cumbria - the bereavement care charity.
